Renovation Space: 17,000 within 175,500 + SF

Project Description

Stewart-Cooper-Newell designed the current Gaston County Detention Center in 1999. The original design included 424 beds. Anticipating the need for future growth, we included internal expansion capabilities in the programming and design. Currently under construction, the Jail Infill design includes an additional forty cells. The project includes new classrooms and modernizing the camera and monitoring system.

Planning for future expansions, the internal recreation area could be configured to gain forty more cells and eighty beds. Thus giving the jail a maximum capacity of 504
beds.
