Project Description
This Historic Courthouse is a monumental four-story yellow brick building constructed in 1914.
In need of major repair, York County, South Carolina chose Stewart-Cooper-Newell Architects to assist them in the renovation process and ensure a quality end result.
Stewart-Cooper-Newell Architects performed a Space Needs and Analysis Study for York County. SCNA was then asked to design the final phase of the project, complete renovation and historic preservation of the County Courthouse.
The historic courthouse renovations provide much needed changes for function and security of the facility. Spaces vacated by other county departments were renovated to provide more space for the Probate, Master-In-Equity, Ceremonial Courtroom and the Clerk of Courts. Many of the renovations were on-going through 2017.
