Project Description
The Harrisburg Fire Station No. 2 serves the rapidly growing suburb of Charlotte. The station includes three-drive-through bays, a decontamination room, commercial-grade kitchen, private patio, individual showers, and dorm-styles bedrooms to accommodate up to ten fire. It also has a day-room for firefighters.
The facility is designed to last fifty plus years, and can expand to add additional bays or sleep rooms as needed. The floor-plan is easily adaptable to other site conditions, which allows the City to use Fire Station No. 2 as a prototype for future fire stations.
This project utilized the Construction Manager at Risk design and construction methodology. Stewart-Cooper-Newell Architects worked side-by-side with DR Reynolds to complete this showcase project.
