Project Description
Stewart-Cooper-Newell Architects was selected by Mitchell County, NC to provide master planning services for a new emergency response and law enforcement campus that is integrated into the County’s existing government complex.
The new facility is a vast improvement over the department’s prior home and provides modern technology and security features that were absent in the old outdated 911 Center. Among the new features are a secured perimeter with access controls, a modern communications center, training and conference space,
offices, and locker rooms with a shower.
This public safety facility also includes a break room and a quiet room to support the special needs of the 911 Operators. The exterior is sensitive to the existing aesthetic established by the County’s adjacent government center, and sits on a plateau with stunning views of the surrounding mountains.
